I ordered this because, with all of the research that I did, this was the best option. The price was very reasonable, the reviews were good, and the design was exactly what I was looking for.
The kit came in two boxes. The first box was the bumper. The bumper went on flawlessly. It had the perfect amount of shims to properly level, and all parts present. Installation was fairly simple, definitely needed a second person like they suggested, and looked great when done.
The second box contained the spare tire carrier, which is where the troubles began.
The first problem was a scratch/gouge on the main piece. This surprised me since everything had come packaged very well, I mean VERY WELL PACKED, so this must’ve happened before packaging.
Second thing that came up, while I was installing, was that 4 nuts and washers were missing. These were needed for the install of the mounting plate for the spare itself. I called, and spoke with Todd, to ask what the size and pitch of the bolts were. Todd was not helpful at all, made it seem like I was bothering him. Said he got back to me, but never did. I went to hardware store and bought the bolts and washers myself, luckily they had a measuring tool figure out what I needed.
After assembling everything it was time to put the tire on. This was strike three. I measured to make sure my wheel and tire would fit. The measurement kept coming up short, even though I had the mount extended to its maximum. But, I thought, maybe I’m just measuring wrong. I lifted the factory sasquatch wheel, with the new 37” Mickey Thomson tires which are heavy as hell, and I’ll be damned if it didn’t fit. The mount was a whole inch too short, the studs would not go through the holes in the wheel.
I called Turn again, and again spoke with Todd, he was even less helpful this time, and he spoke to me like I was stupid for reusing the factory wheels instead of buying aftermarket wheels with a more aggressive offset. ‘We didn’t expect anyone to use the factory wheels. You’ll have to buy a spacer.’ I said, ‘well people do use the factory wheels.’ He said, ‘yeah, you’re the second person.’ His solution cost me another $80 for four spacers, cuz you can’t just buy one, you have to buy 4.
The last issue I have is, that the relocation bracket that I wanted was a month lead time. This is understandable due to unforeseen supply issues, but on top of all the other problems and bad customer service, this was just another punch in the gut.
After having this installed for a week now, the unit makes a lot of noise, squeaking etc. I will make a few adjustments to see if I can quiet it down, and I will update my review if I can.
