Spare Tire Storage Rack for Universal Externally Mounted Spare Tires
Detailed Description
Free up cabin space by carrying bulky gear on the outside of the vehicle. The Turn Offroad Spare Tire Storage Rack mounts to externally mounted 33- to 40-inch spare tires and gives you a practical place for coolers, camp boxes, recovery gear, and trail essentials.
The rack secures with two tie-down straps routed through the wheel and around the spare tire. Removable side panels let you run it as a basket or a flatter platform, depending on what you are carrying.
- Great for coolers, camp gear, and bulky cargo you do not want inside the cabin.
- Works with externally mounted 33- to 40-inch spare tires.
- Two captured tie-down straps help keep the rack secured around the spare.
- Removable side panels allow basket or platform-style use.
- Designed for easy install and removal when the rack is not needed.
Because this rack mounts to the tire itself, some movement can be normal depending on tire pressure, tire stiffness, and load.
Customers praised this spare tire storage rack as "solid" and "well made with good materials." Most found it provides excellent extra storage for camping gear, propane tanks, and coolers. Assembly requires attention to detail and can take a few hours. Concerns include soft fasteners that shouldn't be overtightened and tire movement with heavier loads like ice chests.
Nice rack for extra storage but I won’t put an ice chest on it the whole tire moves to much when ice chest is strapped on it. I will probably invest in a heavy duty spare tire carrier in the future so I can put an ice chest on it. The only negative is the fasteners seem to be really soft so don’t over tighten them
This provided us MUCH needed storage for our 2-door! We kept our recovery gear, tools, spare parts, and camping supplies for our 2-week offroad road trip in cargo boxes on the platform, and were able to mount our massive traction boards on the platform as well! Super easy to put together, and it’s a huge perk that we can unstrap it, and transfer it over to our 4-door if need be. Material and hardware is high quality, and the finish looks good, took the beating we put it through; and still looks great.
construction is solid and definitely top quality. as for functionality, seems to only really hold smaller coolers or coolers with a smaller base (not a big deal) and is more of extra storage than ice chest carrier. an option or adapter plate to mount some smaller rotopax or similar fuel/water systems would really be helpful and increase the functionality of it ten fold.
takes a minute to adjust the fitting to your spare tire, video was pretty helpful in assembling it. a bit on the heavier side but I'm pretty happy with it so far.
**UPDATE**
not sure if this is by design or just coincidence but the holes on the side rails happen to light up with the rotopax mounts. not sure about the weight but as of right now I have a 2 gal water and a 3 gal fuel tank on each side. I plan on swapping that 3 gal for a 2 gal fuel tank or just remove the secondary fuel tank all together.
Seems to be up to the task of some lightweight external storage. Finish is great. Lots of assembly but incredibly smart that all fasteners are the same.
Very well made with good materials. Be sure to watch the assembly video all the way through before assembling as there are some subtleties.
I purchased the spare tire rack and used it. Solid piece and held my propane tank with no issues
Seems real solid. Though it took me a few hours to put together and install. Once mounted it seems fine.
Universal Offroad Spare Tire Storage Rack - Offroad Ice Chest Carrier
Looks great, adjustments were easy, holds more than I expected
parts were wrapped up securely in box, heavy gauge material, easy to put together, use power tools to save time, mounts securely to spare and does the job! bravo!
Works great with my fold up cargo carrier everything fit perfectly
Got my tire storage rack and put it together. Took me a little longer than the video because I did not see some of the details as I watched. It is sturdy, strong and fits well in my tire. Arrived as expected and was not difficult to put together if you watch the video closely. We are using it this week for the first time and it will improve our storage capacity immensely! A must for Off roading and camping!
I love the spare tire rack works great I like the universal fit.
Great job
